That little white face.
The dark eyes and tiny nose stand out against the white fur. I chose this one for the shelf beside our family photos.
The pink outfit had to be in it.
My favorite photo includes that little pink outfit. Having it in the painting makes the portrait feel much more like our dog.
Those golden eyes.
The eyes were the detail I kept coming back to in our reference photo. I like being able to see the tabby markings up close in the portrait.
The eyebrows and little beard.
Our schnauzer has such a serious little face. The eyebrows and beard are the parts I wanted to recognize in the painting.
Our two cats, together.
I wanted both cats in one frame. Their different coats give each one a little space of their own in the portrait.
A portrait of our bird, too.
We have so many photos of that silly red hood. It makes me smile to see that particular photo turned into a painting.
All three cats in one frame.
I could never choose just one of our cats. I like seeing their three different expressions together on the table.
Three very different Shiba faces.
The coat colors and expressions are different for each dog. That was what I wanted to remember in a portrait of the three of them.
The whole little household.
Three dogs and a cat is a lot to fit in one family photo. A single framed portrait gives each of them a place together.
The white patch on that little face.
It is the little white markings that make this puppy so recognizable to me. Those were the details I wanted in the portrait.
The curls around the ears.
I chose a close-up photo because I wanted those curls to be part of the painting. The light wooden frame works nicely with the brown coat.
A closer look at that curly face.
I keep looking at the curls around the muzzle. It is a lovely way to put a favorite pet photo somewhere other than my phone.
